I read this book as a child and was reminded of this book when Mrs. Gilmore read it to our class. I love this book. I think books that have a lesson behind them are extraordinary to have in the classroom as your students grow. This book could be used when teaching diversity. I also feel like this would be a good book to read to kindergarten when school has just begun because they are new to school and may not have been around a bunch of different kids before now. It is important for them to know that everyone is different and you shouldn't be mean to someone just because they are a little different than you. The intended audience for this book could be any grade, any age but I would use it in my kindergarten classroom.
